MOPS International
MOPS stands for "mothers of preschoolers" - but don't let that confuse you! MOPS is about meeting the needs of moms - urban, suburban, rural, stay-at-home, working, teen, adoptive, special-needs, single and married moms and is for every mom, from conception through kindergarten. The MOPS group meets one Friday of each month.
AWANA
Awana provides weekly programs and special events that introduce children to Jesus Christ and build a biblical foundation for faith. A national survey found long-term Awana participation to be as important as all other church activities combined. Nearly 93 percent of our alumni who took part in Awana for six or more years still attend church as adults. AWANA meets every Sunday night at 5:30pm during the school year.

Welcome Desk |
Greet people coming in and out for worship services on Saturday night and Sunday morning. Special focus on visually identifying guests who have not visited before and give them a warm welcome. Offer the guest brochure, church bulletin and encourage them to fill out the visitor card. Escort guests to classrooms and/or worship services, if needed. Point out the locations of restrooms and drinking fountains. Answer any questions and provide other assistance as needed. Information includes specifics about our beliefs as well as church membership requirements. Volunteer positions: Lunch planning, table setup and minimal cleanup approximately once every two months. Volunteers are also needed every two months to provide clerical help such as copying, folding and stapling packets. |

Come and share in a meal and fellowship to get to know one another even better! Great for introducing new members to existing members. Over the three evenings, this group gets to know each other better, and gets to know three new couples they may not know. |

Women’s Bible Study |
Strengthen our Bible knowledge and its application to women’s everyday life. Studies are often based on published DVD and workbook studies by respected Christian women such as Beth Moore and Pricilla Shirer. Sunday evenings 5:45 - 7p.m. or Wednesday mornings 9:30 - 11:00a.m. Childcare available Wed. mornings for a nominal fee. Make and deliver meals to families to encourage and support them during times of joy in the birth of a child or times of illness, surgery or special need. Occasionally, families attending GCC need support in times of grief after a funeral service of a loved one. Volunteer positions: Meal coordinator and volunteers to prepare a dish and deliver to GCC. Music – Worship Services |
Psalm 33:3 says “Sing to the Lord a new song, play skillfully and shout for joy.” Worship team members lead the congregation in worship to the Lord through music and songs. Worship team members must be teachable, skilled musically and committed to developing and improving their gift through regular rehearsal and individual practice. Worship team members must be unified, committed, and lead worshippers of the GCC family. Volunteer positions: See David Lin for more information. |
Christian Family Day |
One July Saturday per year, northland evangelical Christians gather together in the historic downtown shopping district of Smithville, MO for a day of Christian music, family activities, food and fellowship. Volunteer positions: There are many, many ways to get involved before, during and after Christian Family Day, including preparation, scheduling, promotion, set-up, creating the GCC booth, serving during the event, clean-up, etc. |

Nehemiah Fest |
Three days in September at the Smith Fork Park at Smithville Lake, various bands and Christians from across the country gather to worship, encourage, and spread the gospel through music, camping and fellowship. Volunteer positions: There are many, many ways to get involved before, during and after Nehemiah Fest, including preparation, scheduling, promotion, set-up, serving during the event, transportation, GCC booth, clean-up, etc. |

Provide A/V visual expertise to support the Sunday worship service and special events. Volunteer positions: Coordinator manages the rotation schedule of volunteers and performs file maintenance. Assemblers create the PowerPoint slides with input from the music leader and pastors. Flexibility to do this work from home. Operators volunteer on a rotational basis and run the PowerPoint (or similar software) early on Sunday morning to practice with the band and during Sunday morning worship. |

MOPS |
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is a ministry for mothers of children from birth through kindergarten. It’s an open, accepting place for moms to experience authentic community, mothering support, personal growth and spiritual hope. There are two groups that meet monthly, one in the morning and one in the evening. Volunteer Positions: Opportunities for moms that are members to serve on Steering Teams to plan and facilitate meetings. Steering Team includes: Coordinator, Finance, Hospitality, Discussion Group Leaders, Creative Activities, MOPPETS, Publicity, Mentor & Service. Volunteers needed for MOPPETS program (childcare); once a month, Sept – May. This can be a monthly commitment or on a rotational basis. Lesson and/or activities are prepared for volunteers. Be a part of the Samaritan’s Purse ministry by providing shoeboxes of small gifts, supplies and the message of Jesus to children around the world. Volunteer positions: Shoppers for bargains throughout the year. During Adventure Week in August, help by collecting, sorting and counting items for the shoeboxes. In November, prepare and participate in a shoebox packing party at GCC. |

GCC Christian Preschool teaches preschool-age children valuable life skills in a Christ-centered environment to prepare them for Kindergarten and beyond. Be a special visitor associated with the “letter of the week”…for example, Dan Allen demonstrated his violin for the letter “V” week. |

Show God’s love for children and their families by sharing gifts, Bibles and the message of Jesus with parent(s) who need a little help at Christmas time. Volunteer positions: Ministry coordinator. In early December, several hands and feet are needed for a 3-4 day period to set-up and run the Toy Store, including sorters, registration, shoppers, wrappers, exit helpers, someone to prepare coffee and cookies, and post-clean up and storage. |

There are various areas and items in the facility that need specialized cleaning on a regular or periodic basis. Volunteer positions: Special Cleaning Team. Opportunities include cleaning chairs, tables, pre-school children toys, walls, floors, baseboards, windows, and kitchen. Weekday and weekend times available. |

Facilities Team-Electrical/Lighting |
Working with other individuals on a rotating basis, you could check the lights in the church and make repairs as needed. This includes: changing various types of light bulbs and fluorescent ballasts. All the necessary tools will be provided by the church. Volunteer positions: electrical team. |

Facilities Team-Preventative Maintenance |
Following a schedule you would check various areas of the building and equipment making minor repairs or adjustments as needed. This would include plumbing, electrical, vehicle oil changes and general maintenance, lawn care equipment, changing HVAC filters, etc. Volunteer positions: preventive maintenance team. |
